Great family dentist…Our family is very happy with the care and value we receive. My 5-year old son feels very comfortable which says a lot about the quality of care. I was recently seen for an emergency procedure during the height of the Pandemic and was able to quickly communicate with the doctor and receive an appointment immediately. The office staff is superb and overall, highly recommend.
With summer just around the corner, you are probably planning a vacation with you and your loved ones. It’s easier than you think to neglect your smile while you are away from home. That’s why we wanted to share a few easy oral health tips to take with you when you go:
- Keep your oral health supplies handy.
Whether it’s a road trip or a vacation spot further away, make your oral hygiene kit easy to find. Pack everything you need in one place, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, retainer or mouthguard, and a travel-sized mouthwash. Consider putting an extra in your car or luggage, just in case.
- Drink plenty of water.
Sugary or alcoholic beverages can dry out your mouth and increase your risk of cavities. So, sip plenty of water throughout your trip. Take your own water bottle with you, so you can easily refill it during the day.
- Know where to go in a dental emergency.
No one wants to worry about a dental emergency during their vacation. However, you want to be prepared if one does happen! Research dental offices near your vacation destination that can handle urgent dental needs. That way, you’ll know just where to go if it happens.
- Take healthy snacks.
Snacking on vacation can often include choices that are unhealthy, like cookies, chips, or crackers. They’re tasty, but not good for your teeth. So, make it a point to take healthy snacks along with you! Raw veggies, fruits, nuts, and cheese are all healthy options.
- Schedule a checkup before you go.
Take time to get a checkup before you leave for vacation. We’ll do a thorough exam and spot any problems that can cause trouble while you are away. You’ll also get a thorough teeth cleaning to get your smile in good shape.
